This post has been a long time coming. Once again, I am going to wax poetic on how this blog has become so much more than I ever imagined when I first started. I will try to keep it to a minimum, but I have to say at least a few words. I’ve been working on some other projects that take up my time, but blogging is my first love and I refuse to put it on the back burner. What I love about being a food blogger is so much more than just the food. I love being able to write little tidbits about my recipes and how I developed them. I love being my own editor, with no one but me to say what stays and what goes, or how to use a turn of phrase. And, best of all, I love the connection I am making with so many other people, fellow foodbloggers, fellow low carbers, and fellow diabetics.
I recently received a number of emails from readers that have made me realize that my little food blog, which I write mostly for me and for fun, has a much wider impact than I ever dared to hope. To say that these sorts of emails make my day would be a tremendous understatement. There are so many people out there choosing a low carb way of life, for weight loss or health reasons, and to know that my recipes help them be healthy while still enjoying their food is the greatest justification for my blog. Two of these emails were from fellow diabetics who, like me, are trying to find foods they love that don’t send their glucose levels soaring. So I want to thank Suzanne, Rosalie, Marla and Mike for taking the time to write to me, you all have no idea how good your messages make me feel. Knowing you are out there reading is the best motivation a blogger could ask for.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank my fellow bloggers who’ve passed a few Blogger Awards my way over the past few months. It is always an honor to be included among the people that another blogger thinks worthy. So, in no particular order, my thanks go out to…
Theresa of Island Vittles
Becky of Baking and Cooking, A Tale of Two Loves
Sandra of Sandra’s Easy Cooking
Montanna of Slab 2626
Lori of Little Kitchen on the Prairie
Brandi of Oh Flaxy Lady
Natalia of A Side of Simple
Tiffany of Como Water
Many of these awards come with the requirement that I tell you a number of things about myself, but I am going to cheat and skip that part. I think I tell you all enough about myself on this blog as it is. I am also supposed to pass the awards on, and this is the part I hate. I hate it because there are so many great bloggers out there and I don’t want to leave any one out. But I am going to bite the bullet and risk it, with the caveat that if you aren’t on this list, it’s not a bad thing. I am going with blogs and bloggers I have discovered relatively recently, so if you aren’t on the list, consider yourself an old favourite!
Once again, if you don’t see yourself listed here, forgive me. I love food blogs and I follow so many, I can hardly remember them all! Suffice it to say that you are all wonderful sources of inspiration.
