Want to know something funny? I know the words to the Canadian anthem better in French than I do in English! There’s always a line in the English version that I forget and stumble over. Terrible. So in honour (yes, that IS spelled with a u!) of my beloved homeland’s birthday, I thought I would write down both sets of lyrics here. Just for the heck of it!
Happy Birthday, Canada. I love you, I miss you and I will ALWAYS be Canadian, no matter how long I live outside of your borders.
In English…
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
En Francais, si vous plais!
Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l’épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Happy Canada Day
Happy Canada Day to you and yours! Being a baseball fan, I know that Canadian national anthem pretty well. I like singing it when the Red Sox play Toronto.
Happy Canada Day!!!
How fun! Happy Canada Day! My maternal grandmother was raised in Canada. Most of my relatives were born and raised in France (older generations), so I have a special affinity towards Canada
Hope you are having an amazing weekend!
I’m not Canadian, but I know O, Canada will be in my head a lot this summer when I’m watching the Olympics..LOL
Happy Canada Day! I love it in French better than in English.
