This really is the best ever low carb chocolate chip zucchini bread. And you know I don’t say that lightly! Dairy-free, sugar-free, grain-free.
Yup, I am doing it. I am sticking my neck out there and telling you that this is the best ever low carb chocolate chip zucchini bread. Because I truly believe it is and I don’t say that lightly. I stand by my claim. It’s tender, it’s moist (ugh, that word!), it’s sweet without being too sweet. It’s chock full of shredded zucchini and chocolate chips. And it got a big thumbs up from my CrossFit coach, who heretofore detested zucchini bread. Apparently because his father’s wife used to make it all the time and he detested her too. But I will take it as a compliment that he nearly devoured the whole loaf I brought by the time our class was over.
I am happily drowning in zucchini from my garden this year and have been creating zucchini recipes like a madwoman. The funny part is that I have recently decided that I don’t like raw zucchini. There’s something about both the taste and texture that I find off-putting. But roasting or grilling changes the flavour to something I thoroughly enjoy. And there is no question that zucchini noodles are one of the most useful low carb inventions of our time. Lightly cooked with a little butter and parmesan? Or with a beefy bolognese? Bring it!
And grated up and added to baked goods, zucchini adds something special. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I love it. I’ve made this zucchini bread 4 or 5 times already. The first time I made it, I did a triple batch…one for my family, one for my running team, and one for my next door neighbours who are dairy-free. Since I just threw it together, I didn’t have high expectations. But it smelled so good when it came out of the oven, I had to sneak a piece. I slathered it with butter and both the butter and I melted, it was so good. And then I quickly wrote down the recipe so I didn’t forget what I’d done. Then, you know, I had to make it again to make sure I had nailed the recipe. Then, you know, I had to make another double batch so I could take some to CrossFit and have some at home.
Yup, this recipe is a keeper. I do declare it to be the finest low carb zucchini bread you will ever taste.

Here we go again. I cannot get your recipes on ASweeLife. I get all the ads but where the recipe is…it is blank.
I never got your bacon and kale frittata recipe either. I did email your site requesting it but never heard back.
Would you be able to email me the 2 recipes? I love your site and recipes but have problems with A Sweet Life.
Thank you so much.
Maureen says

I had no problem. The link took me directly to the recipe….which I am trying today!
Carolyn says
Please try using a different browser. As you can see from the comments, most people have no issues accessing the recipe.
Julie Guenther says
If you have not done so recently, also try clearing your browser history ๐
Diane Keller says
Love your recipes! Thank you for all you so!! Favor to ask…would you please do a chocolate chocolate chip zucchini bread for those of us that love chocolate??
Carolyn says
I already have a chocolate zucchini bundt cake that would work perfectly in a loaf pan! ๐
Jackie Byars says
My husband really dislikes coconut. Got any suggestions for replacing the shredded coconut and the coconut oil?
Sharon says
link does not work on my computer either. I use PC with firefox.
Carolyn says
I don’t understand what’s going on. I just emailed it to you via the email address you’ve left here.
Maria says
Couldn’t get recipe either.
Lin says
What is the purpose of using the egg white powder or whey powder? Would there be a substitution? I don’t need to be dairy-free… Thanks!
Carolyn says
Gluten is a protein and in its absence you need a dry protein to help the baked good rise and hold its shape.
Jennifer says
I also can’t see the recipe. Would love to try it if you can email it to me. I tried to access it using both internet explorer and chrome. The link would take me to a new page, but only adds along the left side and the rest was blank. Thanks!!
patricia says
I did try again but it will not take me to the recipe. I get to the site, but no recipe. It is blank where the recipe should be.
Melanie says
So you don’t see anything under the picture of the zucchini bread when you go to this link here: http://asweetlife.org/recipes/chocolate-chip-zucchini-bread/ ?
patricia says
No there is not even a picture of the bread…..only ads.
Marilyn says
For the people who are having a problem with blank pages, on some sites I have a problem and when I clear the cache (browsing data) in the hard drive it usually works to get it right again. I don’t have a problem with this site, but there is one particular one that doesn’t work with Chrome, but it does work with Firefox.
patricia says
I am sorry, but I am not real computer savvy. When I go to the site and there is no recipe there, I am dead in the water from that point. So frustrating.
patricia says
I want to let you know that I just tried to reach the recipe again now and the recipe appeared today.
Thanks.
Carolyn says
Good to know!
Darlene says
I just tried and no recipe!

Carolyn I not only found the recipe easily I made this yesterday and it’s true as you say: it is the best. I’ve been on a sweet roll so I did feel it needed more sweetness so I lathered the top of my slice today with your warm chia seed raspberry jam. AHmazig. Prior to you posting this recipe, last week I made your chocolate zucchini bundt cake and loaded it with a mocha cream cheese frosting. Thank you! Your seasonal recipes and archives are a treasure for us.
Carolyn says
Glad it hit the spot!

It was divine ! I made this today, best ever! Thank you ๐

Hi Carolyn,

I’m a computer novice, when I use the firefox browser the recipe shows up, when I use internet explorer it doesn’t.
I’ve never used zucchini in a baked goods recipe. Are the 2 cups of zucchini a packed 2 cups?
Thanks
Carolyn says
Good to know about the different browsers. Yes, 2 cups, lightly packed.
Sara says
Hello! What kind of chocolate chips would you suggest? Do you think walnuts would be good in this as well?
I also want to thank you for your many recipes. I tried only a handful & they were pretty good!?
Thank you!
Sara
Carolyn says
I always use Lily’s chocolate chips. http://amzn.to/2bYJZGg

I made this last week, it was delicious! Thanks for the recipe ๐

DaubeBakery in Rochester MN uses the day old unsold sweetbread to make these crispy little treats that are really good with coffee. They slice the sweet bread really thin (1/4 to 1/8 of inch maybe), brush with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar, and bake until crisp. They have a cranberry pistachio one that I love…any chance you can add this idea to your list of things to try??? ? i forget what they are called but its pretty hard to stop eating them.
Bobbie says
Major yum! Made this yesterday and my non- low carb friends asked for the recipe! Will make frequently with all the zucchini I have. I did divide into 3 small loaves and baked for 30 minutes.
Bobbie says
Have made this twice so far. I have lots of zucchini and plenty of freezer space! ๐
Annette says
Hi Caroline – in this recipe, can I simply omit the shredded coconut? Or do I need a replacement for it? And if so, any suggestions? I LOVE zucchini bread and have missed it since going keto!! And I LOVE your site, commentary and your recipes! Thanks in advance!
LeeAnn says
I got the same warning as Sarah that, when I clicked on the link, it states there is a virus!
Carolyn says
They are working on it. Please email me at [email protected] and we will send you the recipe.
Catherine says
I have made this loaf three times now and you are right…..it is the best!
Carolyn says
Love hearing that!
Ryan says
Is that 9.17g of carbs per loaf, or per slice?
Carolyn says
Per slice. With 3+ g of carbs so only about 6g NET.
Ryan says
per slice? :'(
gawd. that’s hardly low carb.
6g NET is 1/3 of my carb alloc for an entire day.
where do the “hidden” carbs come from making this so high?
Susan says
Do you think I can substitite butter for the coconut oil?
Carolyn says
You bet!
Meli says
this is amazing! ๐
Betsy Stokes says
Delish! The coconut texture was a bit off-putting, but the flavor was spot on. Maybe my shredded coconut brand is a bit course? What brand so you use? Thanks for helping me sneak in more veggies!
Carolyn says
I use Bob’s and it’s the coconut that helps give it the oatmeal-like texture but if you don’t like it, you can try just replacing it with almond flour.
Krista Clarke says
Wow, this is in fact the best zucchini bread–not just the best low carb–ever! I even screwed up the recipe because after I started making it I realized that I didn’t have enough almond flour (only 1 1/4 c), so I added 1/4 c coconut flour, and it sill turned out perfectly. It was so moist and delicious and perfectly sweet. I did add an extra 1-2 Tbsp of Swerve, because my zucchini wasn’t super sweet. Myself, my non-LC family members, and my GF friends couldn’t stop eating it. I’m almost afraid to make it again because I will just devour it. Oh, did I mention that I’m pregnant, and that this was the absolute best was to satisfy my sweet craving in reasonably healthy way. Thanks for the awesome recipe!
Kathleen Lourde says
Hello … I’m so grateful for these recipes of yours! They’re enriching my life like you wouldn’t believe. ๐
When you use whey protein powder, do you use the zero carb kind or the body builder kind? I’ve never used it before.
Thank you,
Kathleen
Carolyn says
Well, there is no zero carb kind because whey has a little bit of carbs. But I use the unflavored unsweetened variety, and this is my favourite: http://amzn.to/2AulGfy
Gina Wiggins says
Hi
A couple of your recipes call for almond milk, could I sub hemp milk for this?
Also, I am in the UK, and can’t get Swerve, except on Amazon at an extortionate price, what other sweetener would do?
Carolyn says
Unsweetened hemp milk is fine. There are some good European sweeteners like Sukrin and Natvia that are more accessible to you, I believe.
