Check out the best of the best low carb and keto recipes from 2014. There’s sure to be something you love!
It’s really quite fun to look over your blog stats for the past year and see what posts were the most popular and saw the most traffic. There are always a few surprises on there and some that you are surprised didn’t make the cut. Of course, you have to take it all with a grain of salt. A post can go viral on social media for reasons beyond your ken, while others you were sure would be a hit seem to wither and die on the vine. And then, of course, recipes that come later in the year are at a disadvantage, having less time to build their popularity and traffic. Still, I think it’s a wonderful way to look back and reflect on a great year of creating healthy, low carb recipes that we all can enjoy.
The shocker of 2014 is that the top-rated recipe is not a dessert or a baked good. It’s a simple vegetable dish that is usually in the top 10 recipes day to day and has been viewed by over 110,000 people since its debut in April. You could say that my Twice Baked Spaghetti Squash is the low carb sleeper hit of the year. Then there are a few of the usual suspects, including multiple chocolate and peanut butter recipes. And another surprise, a recipe that seemed to go over like a lead balloon when I first posted it, is my Homemade Pork Rinds.
I’m also including a few honourable mentions; recipes I love dearly that didn’t quite make the cut for whatever reason. And now, without further ado, the best low carb recipes of the year…
1. Twice Baked Spaghetti Squash
2. Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Layer Cake
3. Chocolate Peanut Butter Dirt Cake
5. Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookies
6. Coconut Cheesecake with Macadamia Crust
7. 5 Minute Peanut Butter Mousse
8. Homemade Chicharonnes (Pork Rinds)
10. Peanut Butter Chia Seed Energy Bars
11. Ridiculously Easy Taco Pie
12. Raspberry Almond Cream Cheese Coffee Cake
13. Mocha Chocolate Chunk Chia Seed Brownies
14. Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cheesecake
Honourable Mentions
The BEST Low Carb Caramel Sauce
Peanut Butter & Chocolate Scones

This would probably be a great site to be part of EXCEPT for the ridiculous amount of pop up advertisements – you can’t even fully read a recipe without numerous popups – easier to print it and then read it! Sheesh!!

I have to say, I have no idea what you are talking about. I have a single video ad that isn’t even a pop up and it closes if you don’t engage with it right away, allowing you to choose to ignore it. So there are no pop up ads here and certainly not “numerous popups”.

I some how stumbled upon your website (I don’t believe in coincidences). I have a number of food allergies and, I think, the beginnings of gout. My husband eats low-carb. I tried your recipe for Feta-Stuffed Turkey Meatloaf with Tzatziki Sauce yesterday. WOW! I wish I could come up with something unique to say that other people haven’t said already. It was fabulous! Thank you so much! Please keep up the great work! I am definitely trying more of your recipes!
Carolyn says
You’re so welcome. Are you trying to eat low carb too?
Lori says
Well, all of the cooking I have been doing with recipes for inflammation end up being low carb. Unfortunately, some are not very tasty. I’m trying to find recipes that incorporate both of our needs. It becomes a science…lol!!
Carolyn says
Well a lot of my recipes are very tasty 🙂
Lori says
The one we tried definitely was tasty! Do you have any cookbooks? Do you focus on just low carb and gluten free?

I wish that you would do more low carb dinner recipes. I had gestational diabetes and used your website a lot for help with my sweet cravings, but dinner was always hard for me too. Our usual fall backs wouldn’t work. Most of them were pasta based. I was always searching for quick, easy, and low carb dinner ideas.

I am working on some right now! Have you made my taco pie? https://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/2014/05/low-carb-easy-taco-pie.html

Thanks so much for the great recipes! I’ve made a number of them and they always come out delicious!
I just made your caramel sauce again today. Caramel and butterscotch are my husband’s favorite flavors and your sauce is so much better than the high sugar store-bought sauces. I served it over Salted Caramel Mug Cakes, just perfect!
Carolyn says
It’s one of my favourites too!

Thank you for the hard work Carolyn. You have made this eating-style so easy for my wife and me and we eagerly share you with our friends. My A1C was in the 7’s, now low 5’s (no meds!).
I hope you continue to be prolific in the kitchen and have a healthy wonderful New Year.

Just wanted to say thank you for all your awesome recipes. I am not diabetic but follow a low glycemic diet for health and weight management and your recipes are seriously the best I have found on the web! We loved your spaghetti squash recipe as well as your peanut butter fudge recipes. Everything I have tried has been a huge hit in our house, so please keep them coming!
