Hi, my name’s Carolyn and I have incredibly dry skin. I’ve always had relatively dry skin, even when I was younger. Which was fabulous in my teenage year because I rarely got acne, but I am quite a bit older now and dry skin like mine means more wrinkles. I still have pretty good skin tone but I have a lot of laugh lines. And while I believe in aging gracefully, I think it’s time to fight back. I want to preserve the skin I have as best I can for the next…oh 30 or 4o years! So let’s talk about how best to take care of mature, dry skin.
Best Natural and Organic Skincare Lines
More and more I’m becoming concerned with not only what I put IN my body, but what I put ON my body. When you start paying attention, you realize it’s quite shocking what chemicals and additives are allowed in skincare products in this country. Many of these chemicals are banned in other countries, but we still allow them here. And we really don’t have a good understanding about their affects on our bodies.
I’ve spend the past year trying out a lot of different natural products, searching for things that truly moisturize without the parabens and parfums and formaldehyde found in so many beauty brands. And without leaving my skin feeling greasy. I know a lot of people love Beautycounter but I have to be honest, their creams are simply not rich enough for me. I do love the mascara but their rejuvenating line leaves my skin feeling parched. So the search continued!
I’ve recently discovered AnnMarie, an organic and natural skin care line that has taken the top spot on my list. I met the folks from AnnMarie at a conference in January and I really loved learning about their mission – all natural, all organic, and free from harmful toxins and chemicals. I admit, I was a bit hesitant to try the facial oils, as it felt strange to apply oil directly to my skin. But they sent me a sample kit of the Anti-Aging Line and I was immediately impressed. The Facial Oil truly feels like it’s doing good for my skin. They sent me a number of products to try and they are all great but the stand outs, in my opinion, are…
1.The Anti-Aging Facial Oil – just a single pump is enough to moisturize my whole face and it feels great all day. They also have facial oils for normal skin, oily skin, and sensitive skin.
2. The Coconut Body Oil – I love this so much that I am purchasing a BIG bottle for myself. This is possibly the best body moisturizer I’ve ever used. It feels silky as it goes on and it absorbs almost immediately with no greasy residue.
3. The Aloe Herb Cleanser – because my skin is so dry, I often avoid cleansers. But this is so gentle and my skin feels great after using it. And it smells so good, I almost want to eat it!
There are a few products in this line that I have yet to try, like the Anti-Aging eye cream, and I intend to test drive those too. But I am pretty sold on this wonderful natural skincare with a mission of healthy skin for all of us. I like it so much, I decided to partner with them and become an affiliate!
If you are interested in trying the products, they have a Sample Kit that costs only $10. It’s a great way to try it out without making a huge commitment. Order your sample kit here —> Annmarie Sample Kit
Another line I like is Acure, which I can find in my local New Seasons Markets, as well as online at Thrive Market. They have some great basic hand and body creams which we keep in the kids’ bathrooms and near the sink for quick moisturizing.
I also really like the eye cream and keep it in my travel bag for when I am away from home. And the Brightening Facial Scrub is good for a little exfoliation. I keep mine in the shower and use it once or twice a week.
They carry quite a wide range of products and I hope to try the organic sunscreen for my kids this summer.
If you’re looking for a line of products that can be found in basic stores, this is it. It’s available at CVS, Target, and Walgreens and I was first drawn to the haircare line (because I also have dry hair, as do my two girls). They have so many different lines and they all smell amazing! I just want to sit there and smell my own hair after I’ve showered and used it.
For body cream, I love the Coconut and Hibiscus Body Butter. I also love the Raw Shea Butter body lotion because it’s infused with frankincense and myrrh and it smells ah-mazing. But the bottle they put it in drives me nuts, because it’s such thick, rich cream that it’s hard to get out the last of it – I wish they’d put it into a tub instead. They have a number of other lines and products for all skin types so there’s something for everyone.
What are your favorite products to battle your dry skin? I’d love to test out some others if you have suggestions!
