Camp Blogaway and Safest Choice Eggs

I am a lucky, lucky blogger!  Today I am off to the San Bernardino Mountains, for a wonderful bloggers retreat called Camp Blogaway.  If you are a foodblogger, you’ve almost surely heard of it, seen the tweets and the logos on various attendees’ blogs.  And if you follow me on Twitter, I’ve definitely made mention of it numerous times.  Even though it’s a long haul from Boston to Southern California, I am really, really excited.  I can’t wait to get up to camp and meet some of the bloggers I’ve been “friends” with over the internet.  Diane, Dara, Priscilla, Krista and Gerry all come to mind, and I know there will be many others.  We are going to have a blast.  There won’t be any wifi, so don’t expect to see any twitter hashtags about it during the event.  We will all just be up there, chilling, mingling, eating and drinking…oh and talking about food, and blogging, and food, and blogging and food.  I simply can’t imagine being more in my element than that.

And I have to give a huge shout-out to both my sponsor, Safest Choice Eggs, and the Camp Blogaway founder, Patti Londre of Worth the Whisk.  Without either of them, this opportunity would not be happening for me.  I had the opportunity to work with Safest Choice Eggs previously and it was wonderful experience.  So when I happened upon Yum Gallery, a food photography site created by Patti to allow bloggers the chance to win sponsorship to Camp Blogaway, I knew I had to give it a go.  I submitted my Boston Cream Pie recipe, and another recipe or two, all made with Safest Choice Pasteurized Shell Eggs.  And then I promptly forgot all about it for several months

Well, imagine my surprise when, in early January, I received an email from Patti saying that Safest Choice had picked me as their sponsored blogger!  I was so thrilled and touched.  And, I confess, a little confused at first, because I had no idea what the email was in reference to until I read it more carefully and put all the pieces together.  And once I fully understood, I was wild with excitement.  The chance to have a weekend getaway with other bloggers and represent Safest Choice Eggs in the process?  Yes please!!!

So I’d like to take this opportunity to do a little round-up of the several recipes I have made with Safest Choice Eggs, along with a few others where Safest Choice would indeed be the safest choice.  In case you are not aware of them, Safest Choice are eggs that are pasteurized in their shells.  They can be used just like any old egg, in any recipe, but without the fear of bacterial poisoning.  I like to make sure I use them when I am making things where the eggs are raw or only partially cooked, although I will use them for anything and everything too.
