Grassfed beef, pastured pork and chicken, even sustainable seafood! You need to check out the best meat delivery and subscription system.

Salt being sprinkled on two grassfed steaks

I was all set to tell you about Crowd Cow back in March, when the world went topsy turvy and life changed for all of us.

And suddenly, some of the mainstays of the keto diet, like ground beef, pork chops, and chicken thighs, were really hard to come by. Even on meat subscription sites like Crowd Cow, which struggled to stay abreast of the demand.

While things aren’t exactly “back to normal” yet, people have calmed down and the panic shoppers aren’t panicking quite as much. So I think it’s high time I finally post my thoughts on this superior meat delivery site.

Check out Crowd Cow HERE and get up to 40% off!

    The best meat subscription box

I’ve been a Crowd Cow devotee for some time now. I’ve tried out any number of meat subscriptions, including ButcherBox, Moink, GrassRoots, and a few others.

While many of these are quite good, Crowd Cow stands head and shoulders above the rest for a number of reasons.

For one thing, their mission really speaks to me. I have long been a supporter of small family farming, as I sincerely believe it to be the most sustainable and healthiest of food production practices. You can read more about the Crowd Cow story here, but suffice it to say, their vision aligns firmly with my own.

And they just went 100% carbon neutral, which makes me very happy. I made a commitment this year to reduce my personal carbon footprint, along with that of my business, so again this aligns with my own vision.

Another plus is the well-sealed packaging. I’ve been frustrated with other meat delivery sites because the packaging wasn’t up to snuff. I’d pull something out of my freezer to defrost, and it would leak all over my fridge. Not once have I had that problem with anything from Crowd Cow.

    But is the meat good?

Oh boy, is it ever. Beyond compare. I couldn’t get behind them if they didn’t offer some of the best meat in the world. And they offer it all! Beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and even sustainable seafood.

All from small farmers dedicated to raising their animals humanely and sustainably. They even sometimes carry some of my local Oregen farms. I’ve been buying Deck Family Farms meat at my farmer’s market for years now so I love seeing it in the Crowd Cow line up when our markets aren’t open for the season.

My husband and I do a stay-at-home “date night” almost every Friday, where we treat ourselves to some good steak and a movie. While the premiere steaks at Crowd Cow are pricy, it’s much less expensive than going out to eat!

    Subscription flexibility

One of the things that really sold me on Crowd Cow was the flexibility of the program. You don’t have to be locked into a subscription, you can just order a la carte any old time you want.

That said, the subscription boxes do save you some money and shipping costs. And you can completely customize them. I did the steak lovers subscription for a bit but I recently switched to the Custom Box so that I can get pork and chicken along with some beef.

And the delivery schedule is yours to set. You can do 4 weeks, 8 weeks, or longer. You can put it on pause, or reschedule the delivery to a different day. You can switch items in and out of your box too, depending on what you need.

If you’re interested in Crowd Cow subscriptions, they are offering my readers 5% off EVERY box (not just your first), plus free shipping with code FOODDREAMER.

Please note that I am now a Crowd Cow ambassador (I was so vocal about them on social media, they asked me to join!). So I do get a small benefit from promoting them now.

I would order the black cod for us, along with Norwegian Salmon for my 14 year old salmon loving daughter. I would also order the bone in rib eye which looks like a really nice cut.
