Looking for a convenient way to try out new low carb and keto snacks? Keto Krate is putting together the best new keto products in their subscription box.

Keto Krate low carb product review

If you follow me on Instagram (and you can follow me HERE), you will have recently seen that I received a Keto Krate for review. Snack boxes, or monthly subscription boxes filled with various snacks, are all the rage right now. I think Nature Box started it, although I could be wrong. I have received countless offers to test out “healthy” snack box subscriptions and not once have I been tempted. Because they just don’t have enough low carb options for either me or my readers. The vast majority of them simply don’t meet my definition of healthy.

Obviously, with a name like Keto Krate, this snack box subscription is a little different. They aim to provide their subscribers with healthy snacks and products that fit the low carb lifestyle. Now that’s something I can get on board with and something I could recommend to my readers. But I had to try it myself first.

I received January’s Keto Krate and the contents therein were:

Cello Whisps (parmesan cheese crisps)

Big John’s Beef Jerky

Good Dee’s Low Carb Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix

Vermont Smoke & Cure Chipotle Meat Stick

Gorilly Goods Pumpkin Seeds

Emerald Nuts Cocoa Roast Almonds 100 Calorie Pack

Coco Polo Milk Chocolate Bar with Almonds

Zenify Stress Relief Drink

Certainly lots of good tasty stuff there and many of the sorts of things I would reach for myself when looking for a pre-packaged low carb snack. It was nice not to have to go searching for things like this on my  own and have them all just arrive on my doorstep. Although both the jerky and the cocoa almonds contain a little sugar, the amount per serving wasn’t significant enough to concern me. They would all make great on-the-go or travel snacks. Except maybe the Zenify drink…pretty sure airport security wouldn’t appreciate you trying to sneak that through!

My little chefs

But I didn’t want to review the box without making the cookies from the mix. And since it was a mix, I thought it would be fun just to hand over the reigns to my girls and have them make the cookies on their own. Or at least mostly on their own. I have kitchen control issues, apparently, and I had to give them a little bit of direction lest we end up with one big glob of cookie.

Low carb chocolate chip cookies from a mix

The cookies were quite good. I won’t say that they were great, as I found them a bit overly sweet for my taste and the texture was not my ideal for a chocolate chip cookie. But I think this will always be the way with pre-packaged mixes versus homemade. They were certainly quick to whip up (so easy, a 9 year old and a 6 year old can do it!) and good enough for an easy sweet treat. The kids loved them, especially with a little peanut butter smeared on top. And the woman who makes the mix is on Instagram and I applaud her efforts to give the world a convenient low carb cookie mix. So go check out Deelowcarbcafe too!

So is the Keto Krate subscription worth it? Well if you are like me and always on the hunt for new low carb product ideas, I would say yes. I am looking forward to my next box and will share my thoughts on that one too. And I am hoping to run a giveaway for a free box or two next time so stay tuned!

I’m not sure about those Coco Polo chocolate bars or cocoa almonds. I think I would be scared to try those cookies as well… I see a lot of these subscription boxes floating around online… Good review!

My dad and brother ate the Coco Polo chocolate bar and said they were really good! My brother actually bought more! Fiancé ate the almonds and wasn’t a fan. Overall I really like this box because it introduces me to things I didn’t know existed (cello wisps are pretty good and available at our grocery store!) and they always have discount codes!

I guess the Coco Polo bars may be worth a try since they’re sweeten with Stevia… I’ve never heard of cello wisps, may have to try them…

They are actually quite good. I had them a few years ago at a conference and they don’t spike my blood sugar. But I prefer Lily’s, have you tried those?

Hmm, I’ve never heard of Lily’s before. I’m in Orlando Fl… The only “Stevia” based bars I can find are Quest bars… I could try Whole Foods to see if they carry them. Otherwise I would have to order them… They look delicious!

Ohhhhh, you want to learn about Lily’s if you like chocolate. This is an affiliate link, just FYI. But they are sometimes on sale at Whole Foods, so you can get them cheaper that way… http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PHMC9L4/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00PHMC9L4&linkCode=as2&tag=aldaidrabfo05-20&linkId=5O42R4QA4BOTEJQY

Sprouts also carries Lily’s – both the chocolate chips and bars. And they have sales on them a lot! They really are terrific!

Hi! It’s Deana from Good Dee’s. Thank you so much-it is a huge compliment when you say they were quite good-it made my day! And for anyone wondering, the chocolate chips we use are Lily’s.

Thanks for stopping by! I am sure you know nothing compares to scratch (and I pride myself on my own low carb cookie recipe, of course 😉 ) but as I said, quite good and definitely worth it…especially for having little kids make them. The girls had a ball.

Lily’s is sold at Whole Foods, Chamberlins and Fresh Market in Orlando! I have been purchasing them for at least a year or more. I always keep a stash at work just in case! They are quite good!

Any chance that some of these subscription boxes come with an option for low carb vegetarian items? Low carb can be difficult enough but add being a non-meat eater and you end up having to be very creative. I’ve managed to keep from becoming at the least pre-diabetic for almost three years now and stay true to being a vegetarian by the way I eat, but man, it can be downright hard.
