These slow cooker meatballs make a festive and fun holiday appetizer. Low carb and gluten-free. This post is sponsored by RedRazz.org.
You need to ask yourself a question. It’s a very important question, so you need to think long and hard about it. Really, this may be the most important question you ask yourself this holiday season. Are you ready? Are you sure your ready? Are you sure you’re sure? Very well, then. Ask yourself this. Ask yourself why, at the holidays, the cranberries get to have all the fun? This hardly seems fair, now, does it? Raspberries are pretty darn festive too, all red and sweet and delicious. And everyone loves raspberries. They are always a welcome addition. So why don’t se do more raspberries over the holidays?
And raspberries do just as well in savoury recipes as they do in sweet ones. I have a tendency to forget that at times. But they really can take a regular recipe and turn it into something unique. Something…festive. Like these slow cooker meatballs. They are fantastic on their own, because there is something about cooking slowly over several hours that just makes them so tender and juicy. But add a raspberry dipping sauce with a spicy kick to it and you’ve made them something really special. A delicious appetizer recipe worthy of gracing your holiday table. Whether you make them for Christmas or New Year’s, they will be a hit.
Frozen raspberries are most certainly the way to go for this festive sauce. At this time of year, fresh berries are off the charts expensive. The flash freezing process preserves frozen raspberries at the peak of freshness, when flavour and nutrition are at their best. And although they have a naturally sweet flavour, they are low in carbohydrates and high in nutrients and fiber. They definitely deserve a place in your holiday festivities.
