Say hello to Gryffin, my little buddy, my constant companion. Yes, this is a food blog, but sometimes I like to branch outside of food and so today I am introducing you to the youngest member of my family (at least in human years). I’ve had cats all my life but this guy is very special to me. He’s by far the most active cat I’ve ever had, jumping and climbing and into everything all the time. Except when he’s sleeping, of course, which is a significant portion of every day. He’s so playful with the kids, treating them like siblings and hiding under beds to attack their feet. And he sees me very much as his mother, looking to me for comfort and cuddles. Which can make it difficult to get work done when he wants to lie on my computer! He’s a total punk sometimes but man, we love him.
Pets are truly members of our family and we want the best for them. A few months ago, G disappeared overnight and I panicked. He loves to go outside but he always comes home when I whistle for him. This time he didn’t come and I spent a sleepless night worrying about him. And the next day, he still didn’t come home and I was heartsick. But later that day, my gut instinct told me to look in the crawl space under our porch, which is all enclosed and can only be accessed by a trap door in the house. There he was, and he wasn’t well. He must have eaten something that made him sick so I rushed him to an emergency vet and paid the exorbitant fees to have X-rays and an overnight hospital stay. Yep, I do love this little kitty man and thankfully, he’s all better now.
All of that is a round about way to tell you that Tidy Cats cat litter is now at Costco in the Portland, OR area (it’s also now available in the Anchorage, AK market, if you happen to live there!). It’s one of our favourite litter brands and heretofore, it wasn’t available in our local Costco. And when it comes to a seriously active cat who goes through litter quickly, we like to buy in bulk. It’s less expensive that way and means less time hauling bags of litter from the store. So when Tidy Cats asked me to spread the word that it’s now available in Portland, I was happy to oblige. I picked some up myself just the other day…dang that container is heavy but now we are set for litter for a while!
Please be advised that it’s only available for a limited time in the Portland market.
