Saving Your (My?) Recipes

No recipe today, folks.  I have some in the queue but truth be told, I am a little behind on typing them up.  And I wanted to draw your attention to some new features here on All Day I Dream About Food.  You may have already noticed them, but then again, you may be like me and be so used to what’s in front of you, you hardly see the changes.  So I thought it was worth pointing them out.

Ever since I switched to WordPress, I’ve had the printable recipe feature from ZipList.  My original intention was to go back and make all of my older recipes printable as well, but since that is 200 some odd recipes, it’s a daunting task to say the least.  Someday, when I have time…and if you saw my life right now, you would realize that this may be never.  So apologies upfront about that, but from this point forward, I enter all of my recipes into the ZipList function, which makes them both printable and saveable.  If you are at all like me, you save recipes all over the place, from dog-eared pages in cooking magazines, to bookmarks on your internet, to cut and pasted into a Word doc that just keeps getting longer and longer and longer.  Ziplist makes it easy to save your favourite recipes from this and many other blogs, plus many other big foodie sites, all in one place.

Ziplist is completely free, and now you will be able to access your recipe box right from All Day I Dream About Food.  I have partnered with them directly to create the link and bring their best features right onto my site, which will make it easy to access all of your saved recipes.  You can see the links directly  in  my top navigational bar.

And those little + signs beside RECIPE BOX and RECIPES  also mean that there is a pull down menu where you can access the other features available on Ziplist.  Besides saving your recipes, Ziplist also allows you to create shopping lists and plan meals, just by adding recipes you want to make to your list or your meal plan queue.  There are mobile apps available so that you can access your shopping list etc., right from your smartphone.

Once you click on RECIPE BOX, SHOPPING LIST, or MEAL PLANNING, it will take you straight in to your Ziplist account, with all the features you want to use and all the recipes you’ve saved.  And yet, you will actually still be in All Day I Dream About Food and able to navigate and search for my recipes.  It’s still my site, but it’s also not.  Wild.  Oh the power of the internet!

Pretty cool, huh?  I know a few of you are already using Ziplist, and if you have a particular recipe of mine that isn’t in Ziplist format and you want me to go back and make it so, just let me know.  I will do my best!

And if you aren’t yet using Ziplist, I would encourage you to consider it.  It’s really a one-stop recipe saving system that can make your life a lot easier.   Enjoy!
