Green Beans Almondine consists of tender crisp sautéed beans topped with buttery almonds. This classic French side dish is easy, elegant, and mouthwateringly delicious.

Fill a large saucepan with water and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Prepare an ice bath by filling a large bowl with water and ice.
Once the water in the saucepan is boiling, add the beans and allow to cook for 3 to 3 1/2 minutes. If they are the thin French-style beans, cook only 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the beans from the water with tongs and add directly to the ice bath to halt the cooking process.
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the slivered almonds and sauté in the butter until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook another 30 seconds.
Drain the green beans in a sieve and add to the pan. Toss to coat in the butter and sauté one minute to warm through.
Add the lemon juice and season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
