This recipe has been in my head a long time and I honestly can’t tell you what took me so long to execute. Well, I can tell you actually. Life and work and all the other recipes in my head that are clamouring to get out and be made. But ever since I tried out that mozzarella dough and then tweaked it to suit my own tastes and needs, this idea has been there, waiting, waiting, waiting. Just biding its time and waiting patiently for me to have the time/patience/wherewithal to put it to the test.
In part, I waited so long because a few people made similar recipes before me and I didn’t want to steal their thunder. It seems to happen all the time in this business, where similar ideas occur to people around the same time. You think you are being all original and then that person “scoops you”. Unintentionally, of course. The first was a reader and friend who took my mozzarella dough and turned it into squares filled with cream cheese and blueberries. I just had to laugh when I saw it because it was almost identical to my own idea, except that I wanted to make mine into a long pastry braid. And the second was Brenda of Sugar-Free Mom who made a cream cheese filled pastry braid with nut-free fathead dough but no blueberries.
It was almost comical, how these people seemed to be inside my head. But I still knew I didn’t want to abandon this idea, I still really wanted to share it with you. So I waited until it was clear that no one else was going to get inside my brain and do yet another version of a similar idea. And then I pounced. Low Carb Blueberry Cream Cheese Breakfast Braid or Danish or Pastry Braid…whatever you want to call it, here it is!
