Delicious savory keto scones topped with everything bagel seasoning. Tender and grain-free, they pair perfectly with your favorite low carb soups, stews, and salads. They also make a fabulous keto breakfast or snack.
These savory keto scones are everything! See what I did there? Hilarious, aren’t I?
Seriously, though. Everything bagel seasoning is the hot ticket item these days and it really is delicious. Turns out that this combo of sesame seeds, poppyseeds, and dehydrated garlic and onion is tasty not only on bagels but on almost everything. Everything! Everything should have everything bagel seasoning!
Except maybe ice cream. Although I wouldn’t put it past a few people to try that.
It is, of course, delicious on keto bagels, as well as on keto appetizers like my cucumber bites. I also have a fabulous keto cracker recipe in The Everyday Ketogenic Kitchen that is topped with this delicious seasoning.
So why not on top of some delicious savory keto scones? Why not, indeed!
Can you make everything bagel seasoning at home?
With so many companies jumping on the everything bagel bandwagon and selling bottles of the seasoning, you may be wondering if you can do it yourself.
The good news is that yes you can. It’s easy, it’s inexpensive, and you can make it in bulk and store it for months. So that you can sprinkle it on anything your little heart desires. Even ice cream. I promise I won’t judge you.
Easy Everything Bagel Seasoning Recipe
- Poppy seeds
- Sesame seeds
- Dried garlic
- Dried onion
- Coarse salt
I usually do about 1 tablespoon of each of the seeds, then 1 ½ teaspoons each of the garlic and onion. I like a fair bit of salt so I go for at least a teaspoon but you can go lighter if you like.
Then you’re ready to go about liberally sprinkling that homemade everything bagel seasoning. Like magical fairy dust, it makes everything taste better. Possibly even ice cream.
How to make Savory Keto Scones
I came up with this unique combination of almond flour and coconut flour quite a few years ago. Since then, many newer keto bloggers have borrowed these ratios to use in their own scones recipes. Truth be told, I am flattered. I know it produces the best possible keto scone consistency. For both sweet and savory scones.
Combining Flours: You really will have the best luck with this flour combination. If you prefer to not use coconut flour, you can replace it with another ¾ cup almond flour, but your carb count will be higher.
Skip the sweetener and add garlic: Most people think of scones as sweet, but there are any number of wonderful savoury versions. Obviously you need to leave out the sweetener. I like to add a little garlic powder to enhance the savory flavours.
How much baking powder? It surprises some people to see a full tablespoon of baking powder in a recipe like this. I am sometimes asked if it’s a typo and I really meant a teaspoon. No, it’s not a typo. Keto flours like almond and coconut flour need a little more encouragement to rise properly.
A little melted butter brushed over the top helps your seasoning stick properly.
How to Store Everything Bagel Scones
These delicious keto scones can be made in advance for easy meal planning. They make a great quick breakfast or lunch. They can even be split in half for sandwiches.
If you do plan to make them ahead, they can be stored in the fridge for up to a week, or frozen for up to 2 months. Keep them in a covered container in the fridge.
For the freezer, it’s best to enclose them in a resealable freezer bag and try to remove as much air as possible. This helps reduce any ice or freezer burn.

Carolyn says
They are fine on the counter for 3 or 4 days.

Tracy says
Mine didn’t rise, and my baking powder was brand new. Any suggestions? I used only Bob’s Red Mill products. They were super tasty though!!! I was hoping to spit them to make breakfast sandwiches but these aren’t thick enough to split.
Still five stars cause the flavor was so good and didn’t taste like coconut.
Carolyn says
They don’t rise much (scones never do) but they should rise a bit. Try a little more cream next time. It may make the dough extra soft but it should help the rise a bit.
Leslie says
Mine didn’t rise I think because after I patted dough I used the rolling pin. So I maybe pressed too hard. I’ll have to bake again to see what I did wrong!
I’ll sacrifice my body!! 😂😁
AllieC says
Mine didn’t rise, either and I followed the recipe exactly (except for subbing 1/2 and 1/2 for the whipping cream). Did you ever figure out why?
AllieC says
Ooops! For some reason your reply didn’t show, Carolyn, before I did mine. Never mind, I’ll try upping the 1/2 ad 1/2.
Carol Wagner says
Can I sub half and half for the heavy cream? Thank you.
Carolyn says
That should be fine.
Barb says
Super quick and easy to prepare. Amazing, savory taste. This recipe will be my new staple go to for soups, stews, salads and breakfast. Yum oooooh!!! Thank you so much for sharing.

These look awesome!! I just made a double batch of your blueberry scones (made a batch with Lily’s dark chocolate chips too) for a girl’s event…they are fabulous!! This is pretty much the same recipe, except with the addition of garlic and the seasonings! Going to do these next!! Can’t wait…:)
Carolyn says
Yep, it’s the same basic recipe, works for any flavour of scone!
Karen says
Quick and Super delicious!
Alison says
Could I successfully replicate this recipe by substituting full fat coconut milk for the heavy whipping cream?
Carolyn says
Yes, that should work well. Might be a little softer.
Susan says
I was just looking for a recipe for something to go with chili when I’m camping next weekend, so thank you! I’ll be making these this weekend. And a HUGE thank you for the storage information 🙂
