I don’t think it would be a huge stretch to say that my sanity somewhat depends on the state of my kitchen. A good kitchen, one that is really well organized, highly functional, and stylish, is just such a joy for cooking. And on the flip side of that, a kitchen that is cramped, dark, and disorganized makes cooking feel like a chore. If you’re someone who spends a significant amount of time cooking, that chore-like feeling can quickly become a real drag. Trust me on this one, as I just recently moved out of a rental with an awful kitchen. These days, people love to congregate in the kitchen for parties and entertaining. You can have gorgeous formal dining rooms and sitting rooms galore, but everyone always ends up in the kitchen anyway, so you might as well make it a nice one.
Thankfully we’ve moved out of our rental and into our own home with a nice, bright cheery kitchen. My mental state seems to be improving rapidly! There’s no question that kitchen updates can make a huge impact on your home, both for your own enjoyment of it and for the resale value of the property too. You might also be surprised to find that kitchen makeovers don’t have to be as disruptive or as costly as you think. They don’t always have to be full renovations that require you to blast through walls. Frigidaire, in conjunction with retail partner Lowe’s, wants you to know that sometimes a few easy upgrades are all you need.
Frigidaire recently launched the new Frigidaire Professional® Collection of appliances to help you with creating your dream kitchen, and this easy but delicious recipe was inspired by the Frigidaire Professional® Convection Oven Microwave. So often, a microwave is something of an afterthought in a kitchen update. It certainly was for me in our new kitchen and I now find myself wishing I had given this appliance a little more consideration, because I use my microwave a lot. From softening butter to rewarming leftovers to cooking quick breakfasts and desserts, microwave ovens are one of the most used kitchen appliances. Since it’s both a convection oven and a microwave, I could eliminate the countertop convection oven I already have, freeing up valuable counter space.
Ah well. The next time I get a chance to redo the kitchen, I will keep that in mind! And it’s always fun to dream about the perfect kitchen, isn’t it? I put together a mood board of some things I love in a good kitchen. I have to be honest though, I had trouble deciding on certain features. What I really want is about 5 new kitchens to design so I could do something a little different in all of them! Maybe white Shaker cabinets with a grey backsplash? Or do I want grey cabinets with white subway tile? A gas range is non-negotiable, of course. And farmhouse sinks are a must…but do I want stainless steel or white enamel? So many wonderful choices.

When it comes down to it, the most important upgrades for your kitchen are the appliances. Lowe’s has the full range of Frigidaire Professional® appliances that fit right into your existing kitchen, without the need for a full remodel. It’s easy enough to do in one weekend! And all that gleaming stainless steel is smudge-proof so you don’t have to worry about sticky little hands marking up your beautiful new kitchen!
