About Carolyn

I’m Carolyn Ketchum, the author, photographer, and evil mastermind behind this website. I’m always cooking up delicious keto-friendly meals, snacks, and treats. Everything from hearty dinners to easy breakfasts to delectable sugar-free desserts.

A major carnivore and an unrepentant sweet tooth, I am also the best-selling author of multiple keto cookbooks. Check out the ever popular The Ultimate Guide to Keto Baking – because while I love to cook, I love love LOVE to bake!

My mission is to prove to the world that special diets need not be boring or restrictive. I want to show you that low carb, gluten-free dishes can be just as good as or better than their sugar- and flour-filled counterparts. It’s astonishing what you can do with a bag of almond flour, a stick of butter, and a willingness to experiment.

A born-and-bred Canadian, I now live in Portland, Oregon with my husband, three children, Taco the mini Aussie shepherd, and Gryffin the grumpy old cat.

Oh and I love coffee. And wine. And chocolate. Just so we’re clear.

How it started… (aka why I follow a keto diet)

The way I see it, I didn’t choose the keto lifestyle…it chose me.

After being diagnosed with gestational diabetes during my third pregnancy, I began watching my carb intake. And when the blood sugar issues decided to stick around, I refused to give up my lifelong passion for baking and cooking. I just had to find new ways to do it.

To my delight, I discovered that with a little ingenuity, many high carb recipes can be converted to keto without sacrificing flavor. I’ve had quite a bit of success, with a few outright failures thrown in to keep me humble.

I started All Day I Dream About Food for fun back in 2010 but it quickly grew into a full time endeavour with millions of readers and followers.

And I am devoted to bringing you creative low carb recipes that delight the senses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you really eat dessert every day?

Yes, yes I do! Having something sweet at the end of each day makes my day feel complete. And it actually keeps me on track with my keto diet.

How do you stay so slim?

Keep in mind that for me, keto was never about weight loss. I use it to manage my blood sugar to avoid Type 2 diabetes. That said, I am very active and get plenty of exercise every day.

Do you count macros or test your ketone levels?

Not anymore! I’ve been doing low carb/keto for over a decade now and it’s become very intuitive. I eat very low carb, probably about 30g per day, but I don’t track it or focus on it too much. I do test my blood sugar several times per day, however.

Do you do any keto coaching?

Sorry, friend. I am in the business of recipe and content creation, not coaching. I also believe that keto is not a one-size-fits-all lifestyle, as we all do it for different reasons and with different goals.

What is your favorite recipe?

I hate this question! Honestly, I love food and I love variety, and I have so many good recipes here on ADIDAF. So it’s absolutely impossible for me to choose a favorite!
