Tis the season for cold and refreshing drinks. And nothing is more refreshing, or more delicious, than a good keto caramel frappuccino.

We make this homemade frappe recipe at home all summer long. Believe me when I say that it’s a little bit addictive. It’s so smooth and creamy, with that perfect balance of coffee and sweet caramel. With a little drizzle of keto caramel sauce, it’s the ultimate keto coffeehouse experience.

And be forewarned: if you share it with family members, be prepared to be hounded on a daily basis. My kids start asking for it the moment the weather starts to warm up. I know if the mercury rises above 80F, I will hear that familiar refrain:

“Mom, can you make keto frappuccinos today???”.

Better than Starbucks

Yes, I really am bold enough to claim that my keto frappuccino recipe is better than Starbucks. How do I dare?

Well, it’s just as smooth and creamy, possibly even more so since it takes cream right in the drink itself. It also has fabulous caramel flavor with the addition of caramel extract and some salted caramel collagen.

But most importantly, it’s so much healthier. Even if you order a sugar free Frappuccino at Starbucks, it’s still full of junk. It contains artificial sweeteners and flavors, low fat milk, and other additives to make it thicker.

Trust me, making your own keto frappuccino at home is just as easy, just as delicious, and so much better for you!

How to make a keto frappuccino

It only takes 5 minutes and a few simple ingredients! Here are my best tips for the perfect keto frappuccino

  1. Use a good blender. Not every blender is up to the challenge!
  2. Start with crushed ice. The blender has to work a lot harder with whole ice cubes, so pre-crushed ice helps.
  3. Use powdered coffee. Liquid coffee waters down the frappe too much. I like using the Starbucks Via packs but you can also use instant espresso powder.
  4. Powdered or liquid sweeteners are best.
  5. Collagen optional. You don’t have to add it, but it ups the nutrition and it helps thicken the frappuccino.
  6. Flavor with extract. Don’t use the junky syrups full of artificial sweeteners and flavors. A little caramel or vanilla extract gives you all the flavor you need.
  7. Top with whipped cream for the full frappuccino experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make a dairy free keto frappuccino?

You bet. Try adding coconut cream in place of the heavy cream. You can top it with some coconut whipped cream too.

What’s the best blender for this?

Top of the line blender like BlendTec and Vitamix are best. But Ninjas are great and significantly less expensive. KitchenAid also has a good blender line.

Can I use monk fruit sweetener?

You can use any sweetener you prefer here but make sure they are liquid or powdered sweeteners. Granular sweeteners tend to make the frappuccinos quite gritty.

Do I have to add collagen?

Nope! It’s totally optional but it does help thicken the drink. And if you’re making the caramel version, using the salted caramel collagen from Perfect Keto really takes it up a notch.

Can I make other flavors of keto frappuccino?

Heck yeah! Have fun with it. Vanilla extract would be delicious, and adding in a little cocoa powder would turn it into a mocha.

Where do I get the keto caramel sauce?

Well I made my own and it’s linked in the recipe. But ChocZero also makes a delicious sugar free sauce that’s great for these.

Follow up…As much as I truly love this drink, I kept getting brain freeze! So, I tried it with 1 1/2 cups of cold water instead of crushed ice in my Nutri Bullet and it was amazing! Also, I noticed that when I poured it into a mug foam was the last to pour out, so I got the idea of heating the liquid part and then topping it with the foam. Perfect winter drink. I don’t know the difference between Frappuccino or cappuccino or latte or whatever, but man, this was delicious all three ways. Thanks, Carolyn. All your recipes are reliably good

    1. Good to know! You must have a sensitive palate. 🙂 But glad you figured something out.

OMG! This is so amazingly delicious. I’m going through Chemo and right now it hurts to swallow solid food. The cold and creaminess of this drink are exactly what I needed along with the high protein. A life saver not to mention a great substitute for my morning coffee. Thank you.

Wow, this is delicious. I had to use plain collagen so I added one pump of Rx sugar caramel syrup. Thank you so much for all your recipes, they never disappoint!

  4. I’m allergic to almond milk, can I use coconut milk instead?

My granddaughter and I have one almost every day! This is another fabulous recipe. Thanks Carolyn!

  6. Can I skip the collagen powder and get the same consistency?

    1. No, it won’t have the same consistency. But you’re certainly welcome to skip.

    Oh. My. Gosh.!!
This is FABULOUS and scratches my Starbucks itch wonderfully!
I did not have flavored collagen, so used plain and did a 1/2 teaspoon caramel extract. Did not have powdered Swerve so used allulose. It took 3 T to sweeten enough.
    My new summer drink obsession!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Oh my gosh!!! This was so yummy. I used my Equip protein powder the Salted Caramel. It was yummy. I wish I would have gotten the coffee flavored protein powder. None the less this did the trick and was absolutely delicious. Loved it. And it will be my go to when I have a taste for something sweet.
