Sugar-free summer refreshment is close at hand with this Sparkling Ginger Lemonade. It’s a wonderful thirst quencher on a hot day, especially when you get sick of the taste of water. Next to my Keto Frappuccinos, this fizzy sipper has become one of my favorite keto beverages.
I often stand in the beverages aisle of a grocery store, gazing with some jealousy at the wide variety of flavors for the carb-loving folks. Particularly the sparkling drinks that sound so lovely and refreshing, but contain a startling amount of sugar.

And then I remember that I can always make my own. Fresh lemonade is just lemon juice, water, and sugar. Replacing the sugar with a keto-friendly sweetener turns it into a refreshing sipper that I can enjoy without worry. Adding some fresh ginger and using sparkling water makes it even more delightful. It tastes even better than anything from that grocery store shelf would.
And with the fresh ginger, lemon, and carbonated water, it also doubles as a delicious tonic for upset tummies!

Ingredient Notes

- Fresh ginger: This is where fresh is best!
- Fresh squeezed lemon juice: Since this is lemonade, the best flavor comes from fresh lemons and not bottled lemon juice.
- Sweetener: You can use any sweetener that you like best here.
- Sparkling water: Choose an unflavored sparkling and chill it prior to using.
Overview: How to Make This Recipe

- Prepare the ginger water: Simmer the ginger pieces in water and then let it steep for 20 minutes to extract the most flavor.
- Combine with the lemon: In a large pitcher, combine the ginger water with the lemon juice and sweetener.
- Top up: Add the sparkling water and adjust the sweetener to taste. Serve over ice.

Tips for Success
This recipe is so easy I don’t have any special tips for you. It can be made with any sweetener you like. Do keep in mind that some sweeteners, such as erythritol, have a tendency to settle out of solution. So make sure you give the lemonade a stir before you serve it up!
Frequently Asked Questions
Lemons and lemon juice are relatively low carb and good for keto diets. Since lemon is so tart and strong, most recipes don’t call for very much as it is. And with Vitamin C and other compounds, it can boost the immune system and aid digestion.
If this sparkling lemonade sits for more than a day, it loses the carbonation. But it’s still delicious as a still beverage and can sit in the fridge for up to five days.
