    Warm up with this healthy low carb golden milk recipe. Turmeric and cashew milk make a wonderful dairy-free combination! 

    Healthy Low Carb Turmeric Cashew MilkIt’s truly amazing, all the natural health benefits that are lurking in your spice cupboard. I personally know very little about these things but I am always intrigued when I read that yet another spice or herb has some beneficial, protective qualities that can aid and abet your well being. I tend to like foods that are heavy on the spices as it is, so I am sure I’ve been ingesting some good stuff without even knowing it. But it certainly doesn’t hurt to make a more concerted effort to make some of these spices a part of your daily, or at least weekly, routine.

    One spice that’s been getting a lot of press lately is turmeric, and apparently with good reason. That deep golden spice is reported to have a whole host of healthy attributes, including anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant, among others. There are even some studies (well designed, peer-reviewed medical studies) that suggest that curcumin, the main active component in turmeric, can help inhibit the growth of cancer cells. How much turmeric you’d actually have to consume to reap these benefits is probably extremely high, but getting a little more into your diet certainly can’t hurt.

    And one tasty way to do that is with “golden milk” or “turmeric milk”. I remember first hearing of it last winter and wanting to try it, but never quite finding the time. However, when I got a chance to try out the new Silk Cashewmilk®, it just seemed like a perfect match. The unsweetened cashew milk form Silk is deliciously creamy and comes in at 1 carb per cup, making it a shoo-in for healthy, low carb recipes. It’s wonderful in all sorts of hot drink recipes and is now my go-to for sugar-free hot chocolate. So using it to make a healthy and delicious turmeric milk was just the next obvious step.

    Golden Cashew Milk really is something you need to add to your hot drink repertoire this winter. It’s a great way to warm up and feel healthy all in one go. You can also jazz it up with a little whipped cream or whipped coconut cream for a healthy indulgence.

      OMG, You are so right that Cashew milk is totally rich and creamy and would be a great improvement for golden milk over almond milk. Haha , you are a genius. I always feel guilty for buying cashew milk, cause I’m not a milk drinker really and it tastes so good. Haha. But I like your idea. thanks for that!

      Thanks – I will be doing the same. I am glad I found your website – have made quite a few things and brought in to work for some co-workers to try. They are amazed at how well they taste. My husband looks for me to bake every weekend. He loves to eat and your recipes help to make food fun again for him and to feel not so deprived. I have been working on a pizza crust for him – working on getting it crispier and texture.

      I tried the cashew milk, taste good. Even put it in my coffee – it gives it the creamy feel of half and half. I have been using almond milk in my coffee. I love your recipes -can I substitute the cashew milk with the almond milk in your recipes ? Thanks

      I’ve heard good things about Silk’s cashew milk, so now I’ve really got to try it! I’m surprised it’s not carbier considering how carby cashews tend to be!

      Also, I feel like I’m probably just mis-reading something, but where do the 20mg of cholesterol come from?

      I bought cashew milk yesterday, with this recipe in mind, and ended up returning it before I had even left the store because I glanced at the ingredients. It wasn’t Silk brand and it contained canola oil and a whole bunch of gums and thickeners. yuck. I checked the Silk ingredients and it’s better but you can see why it’s creamy- there are gums and lecithin in there… I don’t think there is anything wrong with these ingredients but I just wonder why the cashew milk is so pimped out when almond milk is generally unadulterated. I will still try the Silk brand when I see it…

        I agree about the other brands of cashew milk. I am not sure why it contains the gums, but these are ingredients I am perfectly happy with. I don’t agree, though, that almond milk is usually unadulterated…many brands add carrageenan and other additives. I suppose it’s all about what you’re comfortable with.

      I actually take turmeric capsules for their anti-inflammatory effects, but I love the idea of sipping on this hot beverage even more! What a terrific idea!!

      We use turmeric in a lot of our cooking, such as my mum’s curry, and I always love the color it adds. The health benefits are definitely a bonus. What a wonderful idea to add it to cashew milk!

      For anyone suffering from foot or leg cramps, turmeric is an enormous help. I take it (2tsp) in Almond milk daily and it gives real relief.

      I acually made the switch to the cashew milk since it came out, and now there is flax milk which is also delicious!! I will be trying this soon. I also wanted to add another comment because I forgot to post you with an update about the cookies, and the almond flour during Christmas time. I made the switch to the Honeyville Almond flour and my cookies turn out looking just like yuors. Thank you for your help with that. It definitley made a huge difference for my baking!!

      I tried Cashew Milk as soon as I saw it, very good! The nutrients are similar to almond milk but also have 50% of your RDA of B12 – in 1 cup.

      I add tumeric and ginger (they are related) to all of my soups and chilis. The flavors blend in well and I like the extra anti-oxidant boost.

      Cashew milk is only 1 carb per serving?? How can it be so low when cashews have so many more carbs than other nuts? My kids will be happy, they LOVE cashews.

        I know, I was surprised by it too. And I think it seems even creamier than almond milk, so I am a huge fan. I think the nut meat of cashews must be where most of the extra carbs are, so by straining them, you get lower carb counts.

          I just checked my Wegmans and they don’t carry it. All my other stores are just plain grocery stores so they probably won’t have it. I’ll ask the manager of Wegman’s to carry it. I HAVE to try it.

      The more I read about the health benefits of turmeric, the more I’m motivated to give it a whirl. I’m totally new to cashew milk, but since I love the Silk almond milk, I’m sure it’ll be great. Haven’t seen it at my local grocery store yet so I may have to put in a request. I love adding spices and herbs to dishes not only for the health benefits but also because they add so much flavor without the calories!
